AS 2 - Task Four

In advance of making my advert, I must make sure that I do some research into ASA  and BCAP guidelines to ensure that I don't run into any legal issues regarding my advert. If I don't check the ASA and BCAP guidelines then my advert may not be aired as it could have issues as legal and ethical issues e.g. copyright music copyright of ideas and more also codes of practices e.g. risky content, false advertising, and product placement.

After completing my research I know that my final product will not come into any legal issues. The ideas for my advert are all original, before deciding on a final production i looked around for inspirations, and collected a range of different ideas to help me create my product.  after looking at these different adverts I came up with an idea that was original with no copyright of ideas or music. Additionally, I have made sure that my advert contains appropriate content, this will ensure that no one will be offended by my advert.

AS2 Task Three - Requirements for a production

Preparatory to starting my practical production I have to make sure I look into the requirements for the production. This is important because it helps to make the whole production process run smoothly, by looking at requirements and information before I start I can estimate the money I will need to hire equipment and for travel to the filming destination. It also allows me to find a suitable location beforehand and gives me time to recruit actors and actresses who are willing to take part in my advert. Additionally I can arrange costumes and props in advance so that they are ready to use on the day. When making a production it is vital that the team are given set time frames and budgets as it allows them to have a target to work towards, It also means that there is an organised plan which constantly reassures the clients and the team, also suggests that the clients have a date to look forward to, which means that the time scale is more important as we don't want to disappoint them.

There are different requirements that I need to take to consideration when creating my advert. Firstly there is the requirement of technical equipment. To be able to go ahead with my advert I must get hold of a camera. I will rent a camera from a website which rents them for a certain per day.

http://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/

The website I came across offers Tripods as well as different type of cameras and camcorders for rent up to 6 days. This is a good idea as we will be filming for around 2 days., we will spend all day filming the shots to make sure that we get enough to make a successful advertisement, filming all day will give us the opportunity to get any extra shots in case we need any more than our original plan, ensuring that we don't have to hire out the camera again, after each session of recording i will make sure that a copy of the shots will be saved on a computer as a backup option incase the camera breaks down.

The next requirement we need to take into consideration is the potential filming location. We decided to film in a public area such as a park, since is a public area we need to make sure not to capture anyone on camera or ask for their permissions. The location we want to film is walking distance. We don't have to worry about the light as much since its outdoor, however there is a chance that it might rain, meaning we have to stop filming for that day, which would affect the rate at which we create our production.

We also thought about other locations, if there's any complications filming in the park. Which are:
  • All saints Catholic School
  • Robert Clack School

Next requirement is actors and actresses. For my advert i am going to use my school colleague since they are all around the same age as the target audience, so i am able to make a good advert that will engages with them. I don't have a specific gender for my advert but they are likely mainly female. When looking for people to act in my advertisement i am going to contact my friends and let them volunteer to be in my production.

The last requirement we need is costumes and props. To make my advert I will need to make sure that I have all of the props I need in order to make it successful. I will use use my own belongings for the advert as that saves money, which means more can be put towards the hire cost of the camera.

AS2 Task two - Ideas Generation

Ideas Generation

Idea one

Form
we decided to do a spring clothe collection which is a stand-alone.
Style
We decided to do sex appeal.
The content

Our video going to be coloured and for the first sequence we decided to do a scene inspired by the film "Love and Basketball" where the boy and girl were playing basketball and the two actors will be wearing the sport wear whilst other actors wear casual spring clothes. Our target audience age group is 16-20 year old.
We will have 3-4 models walking down the park. (Different shots and angles)
Basketball scene- 2 people playing around wearing elite clothing
A shot of the whole group- Making the company look fierce
We are filming this in a park since we think it will really go well with spring/summer vibe.

Idea two

Form

stand-alone

Style
Humour

The Content
We would all take part in the cat walk wearing Elite spring clothing and one of the actors will suddenly trip and fall and everyone would laugh.
This is a backup plan incase the weather messes up, therefore we would record this indoors in Robert-clack school.
This advert will give the company a friendly and welcoming feeling, since our target audience are rather young.

USP
"Simplicity always wins"
Low price. high quality material, attractive, different types of people can enjoy it, for men and women.

AS2 Task one -Market and Target Audience Research

Scenario

You have been asked by a large company to produce a 30 second long television advertisement for their new product. You are responsible for all pre and post production work. You must first plan and pitch your idea for the advertisement to the client. On their approval you must then organise your crew effectively to produce a high quality product.  You must also record the process in the form of an online production blog.  This blog must be designed to demonstrate the process young film makers must go through to be successful in the advertising industry.

Proposal
  • I have chosen to advertise Clothing wear
  • My product fits into fashion industry
  • Target audience 16-20.
USP
  • Simplicity always wins.
  • Our clothes are simple but yet very beautiful, for any shape and sizes.
I needed to gather some information from specific group of people to be able to create my advert because this would ensure that I can present certain items of clothing in the advert that are appropriate.

Create your own user feedback survey
This survey allowed me to gather information on the audience. It was a qualitative and quantitative research, I received enough and reasonable responses.

After conducting the Target Audience part of my research I have put together all the results of my survey and come to a conclusion on the best way to sell my product. from my results I can see that 80% of the people who took my survey are Females and 20% Male and between 16-20 years. Additionally  the results shows that majority of the people own and prefer named brand. I then asked how often do they shop for clothes, the result states that the majority shop once every 6 months.

Market Research

Balmain x H&M

This advert is effective because they chose a young popular model who is loved by everyone. this will be effective towards the audience members of a younger age, such as teenagers, as the celebrities in the advert are all relatively young. Its effective because a designer brand has collaborated with a high-street brand, this will help to sell them as the audience will believe that if they buy them will have the same outfit as their favourite celebrity. The editing of the advert is quite fast, which keeps the audience engaged as they are unlikely to get bored.

Ivy Park
This advert is effective because it has an anecdote and its presented as a document, which catches the audience attention also at the start at the advert Beyonce was looking directly into the camera which creates the idea that she was looking you in the eye.  This is effective as the commercial kept switching from coloured film to black and white, we can really feel her emotions so therefore we can empathise with her, the background sound used makes even more effective because it really draws the audience in. Since its Beyonce brand and she used herself as a model, it makes the audience think if they buy it, they can look like Beyonce themselves.

Overall, I can see that there are many similarities in the way the adverts sell their products. A common way of selling their product is through the use of celebrities, by adding the celebrities into their advert the audience are drawn in as they believe they will look like the celebrities. The people in the advert, whether or not they are celebrities, are all engaged in the advert, which helps to promote the clothes as its create the idea of comfort and enjoyment. When making our own advert we must make sure to include as many of these aspects as possible that our product will be a good sell and appeal to various people.
